Jumpstart to Drawing & Shading
Youth, Teens and Adults
Students study basic drawing and painting concepts. A multimedia approach helps the student gain confidence with varied materials. Visual concepts such as composition, texture and color theory are explored. Students are introduced to a variety of the artist works that can be motivational.

Cartooning and Manga Art
Youth & Teens
Students learn to create interesting and expressive characters using step-by-step methods. Emphasis is on learning to draw a human character through facial expressions, hair, costume, and different poses. This class demonstrates specific techniques that allow the student to find his or her own style whether it be “traditional western”, heroes, manga characters, or indie comics.
Mastering Drawing and Painting
Teens & Adults
Students develop consistency, accurary and confidence before using color. Students learn to use line, gesture, and perspective working with still life, figure, or introduction to portrait.
Basic Drawing for Young People: Ages 7-12
Students are introduced to contemporary notions of drawings. Participants learn the language of two dimensional spaces as they explore composition, mark making, line, light and shade. This class provides first time/beginning students with solid foundation in drawing.
Mastering Drawing & Shading Techniques
Beginner/Intermediate: This class is ideal for beginners and those in need of a refresher course. Fundamental drawing techniques primarily in pencil and charcoal are taught. Students learn to use line, value, gesture, and perspective, shading and develop the ability to "see" as artists. Subjects include still life, figure, landscape, and photographic references.
Portrait Painting & Style/Abstract
Students study basic drawing and painting concepts. A multimedia approach helps the student gain confidence with varied materials. Visual concepts such as composition, texture and color theory are explored. Students are introduced to a variety of artists’ works that can be motivational.
Although courses are age specific, if another class time works best for you, please feel free to register for the session you need. We will work with you.
Class Fee
Drawing Workshop: $30 per session SWAG supplies included for use in drawing courses are newsprint paper, sketch paper, pencils, oil pastels and erasers
Painting Workshop: $35 per session with SWAG Supplies We supply SWAG canvas paper, acrylic paint, paint brushes, drawing supplies.
Suggested Drawing Materials: sketchpad, pencils HB, 4B, 6B, 9B, 4H, charcoal pencils, graphite, oil pastels
Suggested Painting Materials: acrylic paper, water color, canvas paper, 16x20 boxed canvas for workshops, canvas paper for classes, assorted paint brushes
